WO2 (RQMS)(Now Mr.) Mark Campbell
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you! I have secured an extremely well paid job with a company called Supreme Services in Afghan at middle management level (Starting in the next few weeks).
I was informed that I secured this job due to the fact that I had NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Fire, HSE First aid at work and the CIEH Risk assessor qualification, ALL of which you advised me to do!
SSgt (Now Mr.) Keith Graham - (Ex) Royal Engineers
Life in Ghana is good. When I first took up the post I was rather nervous (HSE Manager) but as you said all along; being a soldier puts you ahead of any competition....It took me 3 weeks to settle in and now I am finding the role to be so much easier than I built it up to be. The transition to civvi street was flawless thanks to Prince2 and NEBOSH - Thats what got me the job (as well as being an engineer). The salary is tax free so life has changed for Jayne and I. Before I got this job I had 3 firm job offers to chose from!! all in the construction world but it did give me the confidence that there is work out there.
Its weird but I do not miss army life; in fact I haven't given it a thought. Every one is a mister once you hand your ID card in.
Cpl (Now Mr.) Dean Spratt
I was concerned about not getting anything booked
as I was deploying to Op Herrick 13 in 2 weeks and didn’t have any time to
organise my resettlement. After talking to the team for 15 minutes I was so much
better prepared and they booked all my courses and completed all the paperwork
for me, he also kept my wife Laura up to date with every thing in my absence.
When
I returned from Afghanistan everything was in place and I completed the NEBOSH
general course. The course was perfectly pitched to accommodate all of the
students including military and civilian professionals. The course content was
structured in such a way that everything was covered and given equal emphasis.
Both during the course and in the evening all the instructors gladly gave their
time for any extra tuition when needed. As soon as I finished the exam I knew
that I had passed because I knew we had covered everything within both papers. Immediately following the course I started looking for the next course to do and booked the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management. This course was ran in the same manner and following the exam I felt confident that I had covered all the areas highlighted and gave clear answers to all of the questions.
During
the Environmental course the team approached me with an offer of a work placement
to gain experience in order to prepare myself for life outside the army and in
a health and safety role. I then started
at Ravensbourne University in London and felt secure in the knowledge that I
had support at all hours of the day. Because of this
opportunity, I have
now been offered a permanent position as the Health, Safety, Environmental and
Compliance Manager at Ravensbourne and had a seamless transition from my
military career into my new and exciting position.
I
would recommend the Training4Forces Portal to anyone thinking of leaving the military as
Chris has been in the same position and understand the pressures of
making the transition because they have been there too. I have also seen them in both instructional and professional roles and in each they are
constant professionals. Both Laura and I
am glad of our accidental meeting as they have truly helped us through one of
the hardest times of my life.
Maniraj Gurung - 36 Engineer Regiment
Thank you for the enjoyable 2-week course
and to the instructors Chris, Keith and Nick. I have talked with guys who did their NEBOSH
course with CTP and they said the way they received the training was not as good
as ours. They had no course materials to refer to apart from the books which we
used as reference.
In all it was to my benefit to have found you
guys. I thank you and have been recommending ASTS and
Training4forces to others. Once again thank you.
WO2 Mark Lindsay - NEBOSH General Certificate student
After 22 years in the Royal Engineers, I started to take a serious look at my resettlement plan and what I was going to do next. Whilst wading through the usual publications and DCIs' I was introduced to training4forces and all they have to offer. Not only did they give sound advise for getting ready for the inevitable (as they had all been through the mill themselves!) but also offered assistance with course applications etc. After studying their portfolio of courses and firming up my plans to retrain as a Emergency planner/Security, Risk Management consultant, I decided to attend the NEBOSH General Certificate course. Not really having an appetite for Health and Safety, but realising it would serve me well as an add-on for my chosen path, I took the plunge. Throughout the course it became apparent why this qualification is so highly regarded in civilian street. The course expects a lot from its students. It is definitely not your typical military attendance course, it requires a lot of effort if you want to achieve the NEBOSH qualification.
That said, the instructor, made the qualification seem very achievable, his delivery and instructional manner was excellent and made the subject both interesting and manageable. They provided everything I needed from the course, text books, reference material etc. All I needed was a clear head and a battle hardened writing arm to cope with the notes, practice questions and exercises! The cost of the course was very reasonable and by using your ELC/SLC or resettlement grants it is definitely worth it. My advice would be, no matter where you are in your career, start looking outside the box and get yourself some serious qualifications for when you leave. With that in mind and the fact that I maybe able to commission as an LE officer, I also looked at it as part of my professional development within the Corps, adding more strings to my bow, giving me that all important experience civilian street requires.
Having immersed myself in NEBOSH for 2 weeks and realising what I would have to offer any potential employer/future unit, it has really given me the confidence to press on with my plans. I may even continue down the NEBOSH route to gain the other certificates/courses they have to offer to reinforce my CV/CPD.
Major Matheson, Station Staff Officer
Having been an instructor and a student over many years and had to teach a variety of courses, both 'dry' and more visually graphic and physically involved, I have to say that the level of instruction by the Tutor, Steve, was outstanding. This is a course that demands great attention to detail and a real depth of knowledge to be able to get the message across and he did this in a very friendly and professional manner. His anecdotal chats really put things into context and whilst we all think we have an understanding of Health and Safety given our experiences, having it formalised in such away was for me a first real insight into the working of my new career. Congratulations on a well run course. I feel that I really have achieved a great deal, not least how to learn and study again. I would recommend this company to anyone leaving the Forces and who want to be sure that they will get qualifications and training at the highest level.
Sgt Iain Grewcock, 32 Engineer Regiment
‘Fantastic course – never ceases to amaze me the level of instructors (and instruction) you pull out of the bag, and Clive, your fire tutor – genius! As per all the courses that your good selves have arranged, they have made more sense in a week than in 20 years plus of spouting it at work. Clive’s teaching style and sense of humour was spot on and made the subject worth listening too. With Clive’s knowledge, it makes a tricky subject easier and inputs real time experience into the lessons for credibility and to reinforce what we already know, but need a prod’.
Steve Abbot, Cpl Royal Engineers
Thank you so very much for the fantastic news about my exams results and achieving a credit. It was clearly worth all the late nights studying and approaching the course with the right attitude. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and I am really looking forward to attending the environmental management course. The experience will be the next contributing factor to the results I have gained to date.
Gary Corstorphine, WO2 REME
A very good course throughout.
Paul Newton, WO2 Royal Engineers
The NEBOSH General Certificate is a very hard course due to the amount of new information to take in. However, it was enjoyable and I feel confident that I can do this as a new career in the future.
Lance Buttress - NEBOSH course
Enjoyed the course. Very helpful instructors. Everything thoroughly covered.
Neville Boyd - Royal Engineers
Well taught, good instructors, lots of revision and help in understanding subject matter.
Tony Thornhill - Royal Engineers
Very professional organisation. Well organised with very competent instructors.
Gareth Collins - 32 Engineer Regiment
The course was excellent, was well structured to the level of the class. The tutors got their points across very well. The use of discussion and moving from the chairs was very useful.
